In final summary my family has fished in B.C. over the last 100 years. From my great grandfather William Kaska who died at 85 years of age rowing his boat outside Campbell River and his grave site is in Campbell River to my grandfather James Kask who fished the waters of B.C. until just prior to his death at 86 whose remains are in White Rock. The oral history of B.C. fishermen continued to be shared now from my father the retired ferryman to me the sport fishing enthusiast and from me to my son. There are no textbooks in my family’s fishing history just experiential learning and I believe this will continue for many fishermen in the sport fishery of today and the future.  Although with all the rules and regulations around commercial fishing these days there will be more courses and government certifications required in the future as it seems to fade into history.
